I was already having a bad day, now this. Variety reports that Weinstein Co. have approached Scott Mann, directer of such masterpieces as 'The Tournament' and... um... The Tournament... to direct a remake of Akira Kurosawa's classic. Also, they've approched John Fusco of The Forbidden Kingdom (in)fame(y) to write it. I think there's a law whereby if you butcher a film this much, George Lucas is legally obliged to do the Blu-Ray release.
Oh, and while I'm down, it's not about Samurais and the delicate relationships between the warrior and peasant classes in feudal Japan anymore; it's set present day in Northern Thailand... for some reason.
